Rainpower is constantly striving to develop new technology, and we have a strong focus on using existing knowledge in the creation of renewable energy solutions. Hydropower is playing and will continue to play a central role in our energy future with is regulating capabilities and its unique ability to store renewable energy in reservoirs. The stored energy can produce electricity whenever necessary, either to stabilize a network that is strongly impacted by intermittently operated energy sources or when extra energy is needed to cover unforeseen peaks in consumption.Rainpower is actively involved in the development of various solutions based on the technology developed for hydroelectric power production to be used in other form of energy production, for example wave or tidal power solutions. Together with our shareholder, NLI, we are currently working on a very promising concept for developing a wave power solution based on the so-called “Oscillating Water Column” principle. This technology can be combined with offshore wind turbines, and has great potential in a future electricity generation system comprising only renewable energy.Rainpower is currently also working with an international energy producer on a project in which we are looking at highly efficient system that connect wind power farms and pumping stations. The two technologies combined represent a stable producer of renewable energy. This technology will be able to supply the regions directly with clean and stable power without expensive and large infrastructure investments. With our long experience, our innovative skills, our highly qualified engineers, our laboratory, our specialized workshop and our ambition, we have an excellent basis for the development of technology for the production of renewable energy.
